How Do I Check the Status of My Student’s Work Samples?
If your student is registered for the Transcript and Diploma Option, you can easily check the status of submitted work samples by visiting the online grades pages on the STAA Student Zone. This guide will walk you through the process of viewing which starred assignment work samples have been approved, which have requested revisions, and which have feedback from an advisor.
Step 1: Sign In as Your Student
To view work sample status, you will need to sign in to the STAA Student Zone using your student’s login credentials. Teaching-parents can find the student’s username and password in the Web Logins document located in your family’s Private Family Folder. Visit staahomeschool.com/studentzone and sign in with your student’s account.
Step 2: Navigate to “My Grades”
Once signed in, click on My Grades in the navigation menu. You will see a list of all the courses in which your student is enrolled. Click on the course you wish to review to open that course’s grades page.
Step 3: Review the Feedback Column
On each course’s grades page, look for the Feedback column. This column displays the current status of each starred assignment work sample. There are three possible statuses:
- Blank: The work sample has either not been submitted yet, or it has been uploaded and is waiting in the queue for advisor review.
- “100%”: The work sample has been reviewed and accepted. Congratulations! The submission meets the assignment standards.
- “0%”: The work sample has been reviewed but not yet accepted. Please resubmit. You will find helpful feedback to guide the revision process. Work with your student to make the needed revisions, and schedule an advisor meeting if you have questions about the feedback.
A Note About Percentages: Please disregard the percentages that appear alongside these statuses. The system requires us to display percentages, but these numbers have no meaningful significance for work sample grading. Simply focus on whether the status indicates “100%” (accepted) or “0%” (please resubmit).
Not Sure If a Work Sample Was Uploaded?
If you are not certain whether a particular work sample was submitted, simply click on the title of the work sample on the grades page. This will allow you to review all submissions (or lack of submissions) for that specific assignment. This is a helpful way to confirm what has been uploaded and to double-check that nothing was missed.
