Some starred assignments (★) on the STAA Student Zone are online quizzes that require a password before they can be opened. These assignments are part of your work sample package for the quarter and must be completed with an adult proctor present.

The good news is that you do not need to search for the password anywhere outside the quiz itself. The password is included in the quiz instructions on the assignment page.

How to Find the Password

When you open the starred assignment on your course page, you will see a set of instructions above the password field and the “Attempt Quiz” button. Read through these instructions carefully and completely with your adult proctor before entering the password. The password will be printed within the instructions themselves.

Tip: If you scroll past the instructions too quickly, you may miss the password. Take your time and read every line with your proctor. The instructions also contain important details about the assignment’s format, rules, and expectations.

Why Is There a Password?

Starred assignments are formal, cumulative work samples that demonstrate your achievement for the quarter. The password requirement ensures that an adult proctor is present and that you have read the full instructions before beginning. Your proctor will tell you when to enter the password and start the assignment.

Quick Checklist

  1. Open the starred assignment on your course page.
  2. Sit down with your adult proctor.
  3. Read through the full set of instructions together.
  4. Locate the password within the instructions.
  5. Enter the password when your proctor tells you to begin.
