Setting your time zone tells the STAA Student Zone calendar to display live class times, quiz closings, and other events in your local time. Each account (teaching-parent and student) has its own setting, so take a moment to update both.

Three Quick Steps

  1. Click the arrow next to your name in the top right corner of the site.
  2. Choose “Profile” from the dropdown menu.
  3. Use the “Timezone” dropdown to select a city near you that shares your time zone.

Students in the United States

Scroll to the part of the list that begins with “America/” and choose a city in your time zone:

  • America/New_York (Eastern Time)
  • America/Chicago (Central Time)
  • America/Denver (Mountain Time)
  • America/Los_Angeles (Pacific Time)
  • America/Anchorage (Alaska) and Pacific/Honolulu (Hawaii)

Live in Arizona? Choose America/Phoenix instead of America/Denver, since most of Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time. A few areas in states like Indiana have similar local exceptions, so pick the nearby city that truly matches your clock.

Students in Canada

Canadian cities also appear under “America/” in the list. A few common choices: America/Toronto, America/Winnipeg, America/Regina, America/Edmonton, America/Thunder_Bay, and America/Vancouver.

One helpful note: STAA schedules live classes and posted deadlines in Pacific Time. Once your profile time zone is set, the Student Zone calendar converts those times to your local clock for you.
